Art Journal

An art journal is a visual diary. It is an open-ended form of art on loose paper or in a bound journal where the focus is on the process of creating and of self-expression rather than a particular end result. Drawing, mark-making, writing, painting, and collage are often components. Works often include words, imagery and color, or a combination thereof.

Mixed Media Art Journaling

Mixed media art journaling (using more than one medium) typically includes words, imagery & color. It often combines techniques such as drawing, writing, doodling, collaging, painting, stamping, and sketching. The materials used in art journaling include paint, pens, paper ephemera, printed text, written words, found papers, painted papers, and images on paper.

Connect with your inner Artist

Art journaling is a very freeing way to express creativity, work through thoughts and ideas, and experiment with new creative techniques. An art journal is an easy way to help you connect with that inner artist and awaken your creative gifts that you may not even be aware you have yet.

"Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place where it leads."

~ Erica Jong

Emotional Healing Through Art Journaling

The process of journaling can be a tool to support personal growth and achievement, as well as a tool in navigating through some of life's more challenging seasons.
Creating spontaneously involves inviting something new and possibly not yet accepted into our conscious awareness so that it can become loved, healed and whole.
A few years ago I started art journaling in a period of grief. It helped me to express all the sadness and emotions I had inside. Creating art, sketching and writing down my poems has been a tremendous source of healing, insight, and expression for me.
Now my art journal is the perfect place to try new techniques, materials and improve my face drawing skills. A dedicated space for playful explorations and experiments that fuels my creativity.
